Almost there

Hard to believe it is already mid-march.

We hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing march break.

We thank everyone who reached out about errors and omissions we believe we have gotten all of them.

Just a reminder we do need names and levels to correct athletes, so please ensure you give us the athletes name and level – if a score is missing please let us know which competition this will help us quickly make these corrections.

Many thanks,

Answering some questions

Happy last day of February everyone!

As we are entering the last qualifier for Level 6-10 for the season it is hard to believe how fast time flies.

We have had some questions regarding qualifying for Ontario Championships so this is what is currently posted by Gymnastics Ontario (this is available on the Gymnastics Ontario Website).

The qualification list for Ontario Championships is determined by the average of best two All-Around
qualifier scores. The top 32 ranked gymnasts per session in OCP Level 3-10 will be eligible to compete at
Ontario Championships.
All Around competition: the top 32 gymnasts in OCP Level 3-10 is determined by all eligible gymnasts’
average of their best of two AA qualifier scores. OCP Level 10 is the top 32 ranked gymnastics based on
their best qualifying score.

In past years there have been more than 32 (it is 32 per flight per level) but we don’t have that information yet or if this will occur as every year is slightly different, we will know soon enough though.

Best of luck to everyone competing.

Snow and an update

Here we are in February and the Toronto area is finally seeing some snow. We know many of you have had snow for some time but it has been strangely warm and snowless in Toronto until today where we finally have some snow. It’s very pretty for now from inside 🙂

All pages have been updated to reflect last weekends competitions.

Best of luck to everyone competing this weekend

Issues and Errors

Hello everyone,

Please, if you connect with us about an error you must provide us with the gymnasts name/age/level and which competition the error has occured.

Thank you to everyone who already did this.

We have corrected all the errors we could find, there are still a couple outstanding as we didn’t get the above information and there is no way for us to find a nameless/ageless/levelless gymnasts amongst all the names 🙂

If you see an error, or if we didn’t correct an error please message us again with the above information and we will correct it.

Otherwise all pages are updated to include last weekend….this weekend is still running so we wish everyone competing this weekend good luck.

Have fun!

Questions and updates

Hello everyone,

A few answers to some questions this week:

We try to update weekly sometimes we meet this goal sometimes we don’t.

We are usually about 1 week behind – so today all pages were updated for last weekend for example.

If you contact us about errors that you notice please include the athletes name and level for ease of finding and correcting the error.

We believe we have corrected all the errors that were highlighted to us and we have updated to include last weekends competitions.

Have a great weekend everyone!

New age groupings posted

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

All pages have been updated to reflect the Gymnastics Ontario age groupings.

We have also added the Level 10 competitions which was only 2 this year (excluding CWG) and it seems that they are ranked based on highest score rather than average that is used for level 3-9 so we have done that as well.

Updates and answers

Hello everyone,

Please note the pages will be unavailable for the next few hours as we update the age ranges.

A few questions about the Provincials:

We do not know why Gymnastics Ontario chooses the age ranges, we just follow them, we suspect it has to do with numbers enrolled etc. and in some cases age ranges for Easterns and Canadians.

The number of athletes invited to Championships: this used to be top 32 athletes only but as Championships expanded to include Level 3 – 5 and the numbers increased Gymnastics Ontario started with multiple flights, again this is related to numbers enrolled in the season and changes year to year. Not every child will get to go to Provincials but the idea is that many will.

Age groupings: If the age grouping is Age 9, and Age 10 is separate but on the schedule there is one flight that has Age 9 and 10 this likely means there are 2 flights (one age 9 and one age 10). If the age groupings aren’t combined then they will compete only within their own age grouping for all flights (I hope that makes sense!)

For Canadian Championships and Easterns

Level 7 – 10 have the opportunity to participate in Eastern’s and Level 9 and 10 in Canadians as well. So first let’s tackle 7 and 8.

For Level 7 and 8 the top 4 AA athletes at Provincials are selected for Eastern’s and then 2 alternates are named in case one or two of the 4 can’t go etc.

For Level 9 and 10 the top 6 AA athletes at Provincials are selected for Canadian’s and then the next 4 AA (so 7 – 10th AA) are selected to Eastern’s.

So what does this mean if your child is currently ranked 3rd, or 10th or 22nd….well it depends! Anything can happen in gymnastics so the ranking on these sheets can give you a general idea of where they are but note that in many levels the difference between 1st and 10th can be fractions of a point. This means that like any competition how you do on that day is anyone’s guess, everyone will try their hardest to do well and be their personal best.

It sounds cliche but celebrate the victories, the personal bests and the moments. Take lots of pictures and memories and enjoy what is left of this season!

All the best,

Gym Moms
